The Eugene area offers a vast amount of houses for sale or land to build that dream home you've always wanted. You'll find plenty to choose from whether its city or country living that your heart desires. Eugene is also home to many gated communities for those residents over the age of 55. Many of these feature ponds, clubhouses, and walking paths. Educational advancement is available at all levels. Three area school districts offer a large amount of education options for k-12 through college including three foreign language immersion schools and two international high schools. Private schools include elementary and high schools located within the city as well. Eugene has fantastic education system and takes it very seriously for our community. From kindergarten to working on a master's degree, the choice is yours we just strive to give you the options you deserve. The University of Oregon has over 20,000 students enjoying the education facility that it has to offer. Many of the University's professional schools and departments are highly ranked on national levels, including the Schools of Journalism, Music, Business, Molecular Biology, Law and College of Arts and Sciences. Lane Community College (LCC), which is a two-year education system that educates over 41,000 students each year and also works very closely with the University of Oregon to make the transfer process smoother for students wishing to continue at a 4 year institution. LCC offers excellent course work for any four-year college and since 1985 has been among the top five ranked community colleges in the nation. Eugene's 105 parks cover just over 2,700 acres and offers numerous picnic spots for that cool sunny day, 14 miles of trails for walking/jogging, 122 miles of bike paths, indoor and outdoor pools, 35 athletic fields, 23 tennis courts, rock walls for climbing, 4 outdoor skateboard facilities, a major lighted softball complex, 12 community/recreation centers, a specialized recreation center and a year-round, professionally staffed recreation program for all ages and skill levels. If you have an itch for an activity then it's a safe bet that Eugene will be able to offer it to you. If you weren't sure what to do with your overactive children then you should certainly look into Emerald KIDSPORTS, which offers programs such as soccer, baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball to almost 24,000 people, ages ranging from 5-18. The University of Oregon's 10,000+ seat McArthur Court, affectionately known as “The Pit,” regularly hosts University and city league sports such as basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and wrestling. Autzen Stadium has over 58,000 seats to house the enthusiastic fans. It continually hosts PAC 10 football games (always a sell out) and city sports events. We are proud to say that it is the largest venue between San Francisco and Tacoma. The University's beloved Hayward Field regularly hosts regional, national and international track and field events, and has been the home field of such legendary track stars as Alberto Salazar, Steve Prefontaine and Mary Decker Slaney. Hence the reason Eugene was dubbed “Track Town USA.” Each spring the Oregon Track Club holds the Prefontaine Classic track meet. Modern facilities, exceptional service and convenient prices make the Eugene area a perfect area for conventions, trade shows and conferences as well as recreational, cultural and athletic events.
